Jenna and Mark and Bentley!!!!!! Yeah this was an awesome session. We started down on Congress and took some shots there and then headed out to a secret spot I have been wanting to shoot at! Craziest wedding moment…The “Great Silly String Fiasco” of ‘09

Favorite wedding moment… The sheer joy in the faces of Evan and Jen as we drove down 1826 in the Cadillac. I’m really not sure if I have ever seen two happier people!

Why you do what you do…I love classic cars and I am truly a romantic at heart. I love the idea of amazing couples creating lasting memories in the rides!

I am happy to show off the new spread from the new Knot magazine that hit the stands a couple of weeks ago. Here is the wonderful wedding that made it in. Melissa and Jeff were so cute and those precious details, love it all! Be sure to pick up a knot magazine and just found out another one of my couples wedding will be featured in the Spring/Summer 2010 knot edition. Where to begin! Jessica and Caz were married a couple of weeks ago out at the Wildflower Center which is one of my favorite locations! Everything is in bloom right now and still cool enough for dancing under the stars on a Texas night. I met Caz and Jessica about a year ago and had the pleasure of getting to know them through engagement sessions and emails and was just really looking forward to their wedding day. Of course it was fun and perfect! They have a tight nit group of family and friends that kept Stacey and I laughing all night long with jokes or dance moves. Peonies adorned the tables, which is my favorite flower, mixed with a Cape Cod feel. Jessica's family lives up there, so you will see the tie below with little whales on it for that reason. Thank you guys for being so laid back and fun to work with. For trusting me to stand in tall prickly grass and I am sorry about that cricket that landed on you Caz, you handled it like a man though! [April and Joel's Wedding Extravaganza]

I really don't even know where to start with this wedding!!!!!! Gina was the coordinator for this wedding and made this couples dream come to life. Gina you amaze me every single time we work together! It was crazy, awesome insaneness!!! One of my best friends and fellow photographers Diana M Lott booked this wild wedding. Since I wasn't booked I begged and pleaded to come along and 2nd shoot. Seriously, when someone says they are throwing a Willy Wonka Wedding, every photographer wants to be a part of it! So Heather of Eclectic Images and I were the second shooters for this event and BOY was it an event! We started at Lakeway Spa and resort then an hour drive to April's family property on the lake for the ceremony. I could not shoot the ceremony b/c I had to drive back to Lakeway to get all the details that were being set up! Heather took one of the 4 party barges and Diana road a speed boat with the couple after the ceremony back to Lakeway. Yeah it was that awesome and crazy! So forgive me there are a bunch of details but I had an hour to shoot them so I went a little crazy and I am a detail queen! I had an amazing session with Kelsey and Heath. I love it when couples want to incorporate their lifestyle into their e-session. I met them at their house and we headed down to a park nearby with the dogs (awesome labradoodles that had SO much energy!) So we started there and got the super cute puppy pics and then headed back to the house to hang out on the hammock, which they do a lot and they have a great corner location near campus so they get to people watch all day, FUN! Then we just walked around the area to some of their favorite spots and found some new ones and we ended at the Speedway laundry mat. Ahhh the memories....when I lived in that area that is where I would spend my evenings doing my clothes, felt good to be back there. Thanks guys for being so fun and willing to try all my silly stuff. For daring to sit and dip in the middle of the street (Heath is our safety man and totally made sure we were gonna be okay, quite precious) I am sad that it will be a whole year and then some before we shoot again!

Two of Austin’s Top Event Planning Firms Merge to Create Austin’s Largest Full Service Event Planning Agency

Austin, TX – Wednesday, May 6, 2009 – Clink Events and Soirée – two of Austin’s top event planning companies – have announced they are merging to form a multi-faceted event planning agency unique to the Austin market. The name of the newly formed company will be Clink. Denise Silverman has been named CEO, while former Clink owner Tanya Posavatz has been named president and CFO.

Last year, Soirée and Clink serviced approximately 150 events valued at a total of approximately $5.25 million, representing a significant share of the local market.

“Uncertain economic times often present rare opportunities for long term strategic growth and success,” said Posavatz, who is also the past president for the Austin Chapter of the International Special Events Society (ISES), and Austin Wedding & Event Coordinators (AWEC). “Soirée and Clink recognized that a merger would yield enormous opportunities and establish a service model unique to the Austin event industry.”

In December of 2008, Silverman and Posavatz recognized there was a real opportunity to gain massive market share by leveraging each other’s strengths, as well as eliminating cost redundancies. Instead of a “divide and conquer” philosophy, the two companies have merged with a “unite and conquer” philosophy.

“Having worked in several public relations agencies in my career, I am a big believer in the full service agency model,” said Silverman, who is also the current president of AWEC. “Separately, Soirée and Clink already boasted strong teams. Together, we are now able to offer comprehensive event production and destination management services, providing unmatched expertise in event coordination, design and on-site event management.”

Soirée and Clink had been rivals for years, considered by many to be two of the top wedding and event production companies in the Austin area. Their brand images often appealed to the same clients, causing the two companies to frequently compete for business. Denise Silverman, Soirée’s former owner, and Tanya Posavatz, Clink’s former owner, got to know one another through various industry events and affiliations, and – true to the character of the collegial Austin business community – formed a professional friendship, often swapping ideas and best practices for the betterment of their respective companies and the Austin industry in general.

Silverman and Posavatz are each 50% owners of the new company. Gina Whittington has been named creative director and serves as a member of the Clink executive team. The executive team oversees a staff of senior and junior level event planners.

Katherine and Ben are getting married this year and it is just around the corner. So, needless to say we needed to get some engagements done and what better way to start than the place they first met and where they got engaged. So we headed down to 219 in the warehouse district. Katherine likes to tease Ben that they met at a bar. I LOVE the shots we got and I was able to test out some new places I had scoped out a couple of weeks earlier. Katherine, I can't wait for your bridals and Ben, I will see you on the wedding day if not sooner!!!!!!

Last minute bookings are always the best! It seems like fate brings us together. :) Sam is seriously the cutest bride!!! She contacted me about 2 months before the actual BIG day. When we showed up to shoot the wedding her and her sister were relaxing at the bar with a glass of wine just getting into the day (yep, she's my girl!) We hung out with them there and then off to the suite to do getting ready pics. My great friend Michael of mvjensen.com came and second shot with me. He went and hung with the boys and I stayed with the girls. It was such a fun getting ready session, it was just Sam and her sister and Sam's 2 little girls that are absolutely precious! The ceremony was so sweet and simple and then a fun little reception with an awesome meal (thanks again for inviting us to have dinner with you! uhhh! yeah, it was awesome!!!!) Then we ended with some pics down on 6th street. Sam and Richard don't live in Austin but you can tell their heart is here, I guess that is why we bonded so easily. Here are some of my favorites from the day!

This is my second session with little Ehren. I photographed him at 1 month old and wow how time flies!!!! This is his 6 month portrait session. I couldn't believe how big he had gotten and how much HAIR he has!!!! Since we shot this right around Easter, we put him in an Easter basket so we can reference his size years from now! I am sure he will love us or that. Then we had a couple of outfit changes and ended with some food!!!!! It was messy and he loved it! I loved it! Then send in the dogs for the cleanup. :) Can't wait for our next session and to watch him grow.

So I had an awesome time with Emily and Danny on their shoot. We booked awhile back and just hit it off. They are super sweet and in L-O-V-E! We did their session down on south Congress and Hudson (the super cute puppy you see in these upcoming photos) accompanied us! He is adorable and I WANT him to be the ring bearer or something! I am a HUGE dog fan so I love it when my couples incorporate their life and "babies" in their photos. Since they are getting married at the Long Center, we decided to head down there to end our shoot with it all lit up! Their wedding day is going to be spectacular! City in the background, super modern (mixed with some vintage pieces of the old building that stood before) will make a grand backdrop for their wedding!!!!! So now I just wait patiently for bridals and the wedding..... until then! Enjoy these!

Ok, I know that this is a ridiculously huge post, but it's my blog and I can do what I want! :) I have had the BEST time working with Kate and Evan and their family and friends through this whole process! This is the part of the job that makes me sad, that I don't get to photograph them....well, not until they have kids or they just want to be fabulous in front of my camera. This is the part of the job that I also LOVE oh-so much, the fact that I have a new friend and have been with them on the biggest, special day, as of yet. So, needless to say, I loved this wedding, this couple, this venue, this coordinator, this florist, this caterer, this everything! Yep, everything. The day could not have gone more perfect and here are the pictures to prove it! Kate and Evan, I love you guys and congrats again! I can't wait to be there to document the next parts of your lives together. I have to thank Miss Gina from Clink for recommending me and making this whole day/event as beautiful as it was! So I decided to show some love to all the awesome vendors I get to work with! I am going to be featuring a different vendor every month that I think is, well, awesome! And to give all the brides-to-be a look into why they are so amazing and what great vendors can do for your wedding! My first one that I interviewed and did a mini-session with is the FABULOUS Gina with Clink. I LOVE my coordinators, I can not stress to so many brides out there that they are so wonderful to have. They take so much stress off of the couple and the family and they make all the vendors jobs run smoother. Let your wedding day just be about you and your significant other and not all the craziness that can sometimes come on wedding day! Why you do what you do:
I have always wanted to make a difference in the world, and I can’t stand blood so being a doctor was ruled out quickly! I get to be with a bride on the most important and cherished day of her life (until she has children) and I get to make that day beautiful and perfect and completely unique to her and her fiancé.

Tips for brides to be:
*Enjoy your engagement and have fun with it, don’t sweat the small stuff, we are here for you as a sounding board and a reasonable unbiased voice to guide you
*The more personal touches you can add the better
*EVERYONE has an opinion about your wedding, do not ask them and ignore the ones that are offered unsolicited
*Do not skimp on photography, this is all you will have left and the day flies by!

A celebration of family, fun and LOVE! This was my first of two back to back weddings at Laguna Gloria over the last weekend. It's awesome to see how a place can transform. Kelly and Derek are so sweet and laid back and it really came through on their wedding day. During the toasts I got teary eyed with all the kind words everyone had to say about the newly wed couple. I had the pleasure of photographing Melissa and Ben's wedding last weekend all held at the beautiful and historic Driskill hotel in downtown Austin. They are a sweet couple with lots of love surrounding them. Melissa went to ATM and while she swears her dresses aren't aggie maroon, we still all teased her about it. Ben on the other hand is a UT fan and he went along with it all quite well. The ceremony was very sweet and one of Ben's long time friends was the officiant, which is always so special. Then onto the reception. It was CRAZY! These guys love to dance and it was so much fun! Stacey and I got down a little bit too, it was so infectious! So I have to give HUGE thanks to all the awesome vendors! First off Amanda with Caplan/Miller Events put this whole event together!

I know, I know! This is a huge post but I love this couple they are so cute and sweet and super fun details that Denise with Soiree put together, it was just really hard! The wedding took place last weekend at the Wildflower Center, which is one of my favorite places to shoot, gorgeous scenery at every turn. Denise sent me an email one day and said I have a couple that I think would be perfect for you! She was right. Kelly, Seth and I spent a few hours together when we photographed their engagement session and just got along like we were old pals. I loved all the details and the aubergine and navy colors, tied together so seamlessly. It was overcast but that was fine with us, it made for some cooler weather, which had been warmer during the week, even given the early month of March. I have to say everything went smooth and once again gotta love the coordinators! Kelly and Seth, thank you so much for allowing me to do what I do and here are my favorites from the day! Get crazy, we don't mind!

So, this is a new thing that we are thinking of doing at our weddings. A photo booth of sorts, we were lucky enough that Wildflower Center already had the fabulous corrugated steel that makes my heart melt and is just oh-so perfect with this light. We are going to try to incorporate it into all the Captured! booths we set up in the future. If we can't do that we will find something as equally awesome if not more awesome! We decided to test it out last weekend at Kelly and Seth's wedding and we got some great shots! We are looking forward to setting it up at one of our next weddings, just a couple of weeks away. They got baths, I couldn't take any of Jezebel, she gets bathed outside and while she loves the water, she hates baths, so it is a struggle to get her bathed and I always end up wet from head to toe! Comet does not like being bathed outside but will do the bath tub! So I took some pics of him in there and Jezebel watching him, thankful I am sure, that she was done with hers. Then they ran around the house so hyper to be all clean! I love puppies!!!!!

Kate's Bridal

Beautiful bride + awesome dress+ gorgeous hair accy+ fabulous makeup and ultimate location = AMAZING bridal shoot!!!!!

So my fabulous bride Kate is getting married at the end of the month and as previously mentioned, her and I are style soul mates. This wedding is going to be amazing! Gina with Clink is putting the whole thing together and Gina has incredible taste and style so no doubt that there will be TONS of photos. Thanks again to Gina for recommending Kate to me! Well, we started her shoot at Laguna, which is where she is getting married and then headed over to Hotel St. Cecilia for the second part of the bridal, a bit more funky and Austin style! Seriously, put me in a teal room with a white peacock and I will call it home! I like to think that heaven is a lot like this place. Everything about this shoot and this location reeks GORGEOUS! Kate I LOVE your vintage flare and just wonderful personality, I am going to be so sad when our shooting time comes to an end, you have to call me for every event in your life that needs documenting! Ellen + Caleb E-Session

So I met Ellen awhile back when she was coordinating weddings. I have always thought she is SO bubbly and cute! So when she asked me to photograph her wedding I was ecstatic! Not only do I have an awesome bride but her fiance, Caleb, is just about one of the nicest, sweetest guys I have met! (Man, I am so lucky! This year is starting off so awesome!) Ok, secondly, they then said where the wedding was going to take place, Lodi, CA! Woohoo! I can't wait to shoot there and check out some of the fabulous wineries in the area! Here are a few of my favorites from the day and we have a lot more planned over the next 6 months to come, all kinds of fun stuff to match this fun couple!

A night At St. Cecilia with Comet

So last weekend I did some bridals at St. Cecilia with my bride Kate, whom I LOVE! Her style and mine is...well....let's just say we are soul mates there! You have to check out her blog, she is hilarious, here is the link Kate’s Blog. I can't wait for her wedding just in a few weeks and I am excited to work with one of my most favorite coordinators in the biz, Gina with Clink. Ok, I digress.... I have been dog sitting for awhile and so Comet came and stayed the night with me there, these are some shots that I took the morning that we hung out there. Kate, I hate to tell you this, but thanks for giving us the room that night b/c we slept on $20,000 mattresses. YES! you counted all those zeros correctly. Seriously, the best nights sleep! So for all my future brides that are looking for a place to shoot bridals or a place to stay the night of the wedding check this place out! Bretagne and Raymond

I have had an awesome start to the year with my first two weddings! Bretagne and Raymond were my second one for the year and I had a great time photographing it! I love these two, they are such true Austinites and of course I am a bit partial to that. Plus they are just one of those couples, that just makes you feel like family. They had an intimate ceremony with just close family and a few friends and then reception followed at Austin Club. BUT! in between the two events, we had an hour to go take some fun shots. Bretagne's grandfather owns a sheet metal shop down on 7th street so we headed over there to take some shots as a surprise for her grandfather! I hope he loves these as much as I do! Here are some of my favorites, I had such a hard time narrowing down my favorites for this post!

My baby brother and his girlfriend had Evaleigh Dawn last night at 6:18. She is 7 pounds 15 ounces and 20 inches long. I can't wait to take some more pics of her this week and to document her life. :) I am definitely going to spoil her. Here are a few from last night at the hospital.

[Sara + Chase]

What a great way to kick off our new year! The first wedding of 2009, with Sara and Chase. I just loved them immediately when we first met. Their passion and love for each other really shined through. We weren't scheduled to shoot their wedding until October but they had to move it up b/c Chase (plays baseball and used to play for the Marlins) got signed on with a team in Japan! So, needless to say, they weren't going to be here in October! It all worked out perfectly, the weather was great and the wedding was just an intimate gathering of close family and friends. They decided to see each other before the ceremony so that we would have some time to run around downtown to get some fun shots. Here are a few of my favorites from the day. So this first picture is the happy couple on their wedding day but I made this a big post with some other fun shots that I took and ending with the wedding pictures! I had so much fun being in playa with some of my closest friends. Even though the weather was a little wet for the first 5 days we were there but we managed to have a blast! I still have other silly pics to post from our ATV'ing that we did the day before the wedding. The girls won b/c we got way muddier than the boys! So those will come at some point! But here is just some of the days before the wedding and leading up to!
